Reflection is a powerful word, and a visual reflection reveals a truth.  My work explores truths.  Hard truths.  My work explores Black womanhood.  From Mammy, to Breonna.  Like most folks I have been effected by current events and the #blacklivesmatter movement. I am not yet a mother, but I am haunted by the aspect that my son could be hunted while walking home and wearing a hood in the rain, as in the case of Trayvon Martin. Unarmed. Gunned down.  I fear that I could lose my life based on how I look through the lenses of others. A reflection of my ancestry, a reflection of prejudices a reflection of stereotypes.   The matter that I am Black is not a movement.  It is my life. And I matter.

My work examines the truths and consequences of slavery, incorporated with a futuristic approach to the subject. I print on raw cotton, gauze, leaves, and infuse an assimilation of found objects and contemporary images. My work questions humanity. My work breathes conversation.
